Clothing retailer C&A is to close their multi-level store on Place Guillaume II on 3 March. Serge Wilmes, alderman for commerce, said the municipality had not been informed regarding the closure, but also advised it was only standard practice to contact the council in case of renovation or building work.

There has been no official statement by C&A concerning the closure and they have not responded to queries as to the reason behind the store closing. It is also not known if other stores in Luxembourg will be affected.

C&A announced it would close down 13 stores in Germany, and 30 in France, where 200 employees face job losses. The company has been struggling to make a profit since 2017. It has been alleged that the family-run company are struggling to agree on a way forward for the business, to modernise it and make it competitive.
