ArcelorMittal's president Michel Wurth and Director General Roland Bastian commented on recent criticism levelled at the steel company at the New Year's reception on Thursday.
In the steel industry, all activity generates certain by-products. The legislation on the treatment thereof is constantly evolving, according to the management of ArcelorMittal Luxembourg, but the company has always endeavoured to comply to regulations.
Roland Bastian said no waste considered dangerous according to European standards is stored at the Differdange dump. By-products from metallurgical production, which pose a risk to health and the environment, are processed by approved service providers abroad.
