On Monday morning, the NGO Fairtrade Luxembourg presented its first clothing line at the National Museum for History and Art (MNHA).

Six different designs adorn the sustainable fair-trade t-shirts, hoodies and jackets soon to be sold in select stores throughout Luxembourg. The clothing line is part of the project "Rethink your clothes" encouraging people to be more aware of where their clothes come from and how they were produced.

The cotton used in the clothes was grown without the use of pesticides and cotton farmers and dressmakers are guaranteed fair living and working conditions. No child labour goes into the making of the clothing line.

Jean-Louis Zeien, an artist and the president of Fairtrade Lëtzebuerg Asbl, said that they succeeded in showing where the clothes come from in a creative way. They depict Luxembourg's heraldic animal, the lion, and the famed "Golden Lady" amongst others. Artist Jacques Schneider is proud of his collection and hopes that the production will be moved from France to Luxembourg in the future. Further similar projects are currently in the making, Zeien explained.

The collection can be bought in several stores and from the artist himself. T-shirts cost around €30, hoodies come in at €50.
