Police are offering a few helpful tips as the 83rd Tour de Luxembourg launches in five stages across the country. Motorists may need to be patient as certain roads will be closed and traffic will inevitably be disrupted. Information will be communicated regularly by local authorities and signs will also be posted on the relevant stretches of road.

It is possible to be temporarily unable to depart from certain locations with your car. If you are at risk of being blocked in, it is advisable to consider parking your car at a nearby location that is not part of the route.

In other words: pay attention to road signs and keep an eye out for any changes. If a road is blocked, it must not be used by any unauthorised persons. Police orders take precedence over traffic regulations, lights, and road signs.

Should you somehow still miss these signs and find yourself on the route as the race passes, it is advised to immediately park alongside the road and wait for instructions from the police.

The Tour de Luxembourg will take place around the capital on Wednesday, before a stage from Mondorf-les-Bains to Mamer on Thursday. On Friday, riders will set off from Mertert and ride to Vianden and Pétange on Saturday before the final stage from Mersch to Luxembourg City brings the Tour to a finish on Sunday.

More information about road closures can be found on the city’s website or on the race’s website, plus previous coverage on how to best navigate possible routes on the days of the race.
