
At around 3:30 p.m., a car crashed into a tree on the N23 between Hostert and Ospern. In all likelihood, the driver lost control of his vehicle on a bend.
The 81-year-old passenger from western Luxembourg died on the spot despite the intervention of the emergency services. An autopsy was ordered.
As for the driver, he was transported by an Air Rescue helicopter to the hospital. On the scene were also two ambulances from Redange, the SAMU and the first aiders from Ell and Redange.
Due to the on-site investigation by the police, the road was closed for several hours.
