Dangerous driving42 motorists caught using phones during police controls

Police conducted checks in Walferdange on Wednesday afternoon, catching a number of people using their mobile phones while driving.

Between 4.30pm and 6pm, police caught 42 people using their phones at the wheel on Route de Diekirch. Each driver received a €250 on-the-spot fine and four points were taken off their licence.

Two other motorists received fines for not wearing their seatbelt, while another driver was stopped for driving through a red light. One driver had issues with their car tax, and another motorist was pulled over for brake issues.

Drug driving

In a separate incident in Ettelbruck, a vehicle was pulled over by police on the N15 at around 8.15pm due to the vehicle smelling of cannabis. The driver failed to pass a drug test and was subsequently fined. A similar incident took place near midnight on Rue Kurzacht, Grevenmacher.
