40,000 cyclists used the specially reserved routes during the "Vëlosummer". A very satisfying outcome for the Ministers for Mobility, François Bausch, and Tourism, Lex Delles.
The initiative will be repeated next summer, from 31 July to 29 August 2021, with various routes being closed to motorised traffic either completely or only on weekends. Municipalities can put in their proposals until the end of the year.
For the next edition, dedicated routes will be better signposted and secured more effectively. This year, one road in Dommeldange alone saw more than 9,000 drivers ignoring the signs and using the blocked off route, in defiance of traffic laws.
