From 11 May on, around 115 police checks have been carried out on a daily basis, to ensure members of the public are observing social distancing, wearing masks in places where physical distancing cannot be guaranteed, and observing the strict rules issued on gatherings.
Around 25 fines were issued per day over the last week in the Grand Duchy, primarily to members of the public not wearing masks where needed. 80 infractions were counted on the beaches of the Upper Sûre Lake, where people continued to congregate despite the beaches being closed.
Police have issued reminders that a maximum of six people are allowed to meet at home, with groups of up to 20 allowed in public spaces. Masks or other facial protection are obligatory if it is impossible to keep a two-metre distance.
People who do not observe these measures will be subjected to fines of €145.
