
So far this year, 1,499 such requests were submitted. At the same point in 2022, the count stood at 1,320.
August marked the highest number of asylum applications for the month in the last five years.
Among the applicants, Syrians constitute 36.4% of the total in 2023, followed by Eritreans at 14.6%. Additionally, applicants include individuals from Afghanistan, Venezuela, Algeria, Turkey, and Morocco.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine continues to drive Ukrainians to seek temporary protection in Luxembourg, with 107 applications in August alone. In total, 689 such requests have been filed by Ukrainians throughout the year thus far.
