9,000 women were victims of sexual violence at least once within one year. 10,500 of physical, and 34,000 of psychological violence. Only a minority of victims were in contact with the police or a professional contact point after the crime. In the case of sexual violence, about 7,400 women did not turn to anyone, in the case of physical violence it was about 8,500, and in the case of psychological violence 27,200.
When asked why the victims had not sought help more often, a majority of 36 percent answered that the incident had not been severe enough. 19 percent thought that it would not help anyway, and 9 did not know whom to turn to. Only 17 percent of the victims sought professional help afterwards.
The contact point for these women was primarily the police or a doctor or a psychologist. Victim Aid Services were contacted the least.
