It looks like something out of a fairy tale: Meysembourg Castle, situated slap bang in the middle of the country.
The castle, built in 1880 in the neo-renaissance style, is located about 3 kilometres south-west of Larochette an comes with a huge park and a forest which borders on four towns.
Meysembourg Castle was built on top of an old fortress which used to be the ancestral seat of a noble family dating back to the 12th century.

On 7 March 2008, Meysembourg Castle, the surrounding outbuildings as well as the surrounding park were given the national monument status. Some of the trees on the estate have been part of the national monuments list for even longer - since 29 March 1974. The pond close to the castle is also rather special in that it is one of the few ponds specifically created to clean horses.
About 8 years ago, the Clasen family bought the sprawling estate, originally to expand their agricultural business.
With the land came Meysembourg Castle and the Clasen family decided to grant the old building a new lease of life. The family renovated the outside of the castle and in a next step, they are now looking for a hotel operator who would be willing to set up business at Meysembourg castle. Christophe Clasen, who bought the castle a couple of years ago, is willing to give it about 4 years.
