The informant, Martine Solovieff, will report to the Grand Duke on the positions of the political forces with a view to the constitution of a coalition government.

As noted in an earlier article, the Grand Duke appoints an informant (informateur) following meetings with the prime minister, presidents of the parliament (Chambre des Députés), and leaders of elected political parties.  The informant is to report back the positions of parties as observed during party discussions and report back.

The first of these meetings took place earlier today and Xavier Bettel met with Grand Duke Henri again at 5.30pm. In a written statement by the royal court, which went out at 6pm, attorney general Martine Solovieff was named the Grand Duke's informant. A press statement reads:

"At the end of today's hearings with the Prime Minister, the presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and the Council of State and the presidents of the political parties, HRH the Grand Duke has appointed Mrs Martine Solovieff, Chief Public Prosecutor, informant in the formation of the new government. The informant will report to the Grand Duke on the positions of the political forces with a view to the constitution of a coalition government."
