The Luxembourg Guides and Scouts (LGS) are marking their 2026 edition this weekend in Merl and Luxembourg City. Almost all of the sports halls, the swimming pool, outdoor areas, and the youth centre Forum Geesseknäppchen have been taken over by around 1,500 children and young people aged between 6 and 23, supported by numerous volunteers who supervise them.
Thinking Day 2026 offers participants the chance to take part in more than 30 workshops, ranging from archery and breakdancing to swimming, running, badminton, and climbing. It is a sporting adventure, but one that also aims to support the LGS’s so-called Odyssey programme.
Every three years, international camps are organised for guides and scouts aged 17 to 23. The main objective of the Odyssey programme is cultural exchange in the host country. On site, participants also work alongside local communities on concrete projects, such as building schools, carrying out renovations, or planting trees.
As these camps naturally involve significant costs, Thinking Day participants can be sponsored by family and friends for each hour of sporting activity. All proceeds go directly towards funding the Odyssey projects.
Under the slogan ’24 hours on the move’, the weekend at Geesseknäppchen is therefore not just about having fun: Thinking Day is also firmly linked to acts of solidarity.
