Several reports have been made about a man in a white van attempting to get children to follow him. A post on social includes a photo of the suspect.
RTL has reported on the investigation into several reports of suspicious behaviour towards young children, and girls in particular.
Minister of Internal Security Henri Kox has also confirmed that an investigation has been launched, with police looking into the claims. International School Luxembourg has also issued a warning to parents following an incident that reportedly took place by a supermarket in Merl, where a man with a white van approached two children early in the morning.
Another post has now appeared on social media and is spreading quickly. This post purports to show a picture of the suspect alongside his white van. However, RTL can confirm that the photo in question relates to a case from Belgium in 2018. That case saw a man kidnap his own 3-month-old child, and he was subsequently brought before justice.
There is no evidence to suggest that the picture is relevant to the recent reported events in Luxembourg, beyond the coincidental white van.
