August is here, and while most organisers are taking a break, loads of concerts are taking place at Rotondes and family events are organised throughout the city.

1 August: The Orchestra (For Now) – Music

After winning the 2024 edition of the Green Man Rising’s contest and their first ever festival slot, The Orchestra (For Now) is ready to conquer Luxembourg next. The second single off the record, ​“The Strip”, has been described as ​“a colossal torrent of noise” (Clash Music), so expect nothing less for their performance at Congés Annulés. 1 August: Grand Ducal Palace – Tour

Each summer, the doors of the Grand Ducal Palace open for exclusive guided tours, offering a rare glimpse into the official residence of Luxembourg’s Grand Ducal family. Visitors can explore its richly decorated rooms—including the Grand Duke’s office and the King’s Salon—while learning about the building’s layered history dating back to 1418. Proceeds from the tours support social and humanitarian initiatives through the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess Foundation. Tickets.

1–3 August: Bertrange Duerffest – Fair

Bertrange celebrates 30 years of its beloved Duerffest with a festive weekend on the village meadows from 1–3 August. Organised by local associations, the event brings together food, music and community spirit in a relaxed, open-air setting. More details here.

2 August: Dame Area – Music

Hailing from Barcelona, Dame Area are an eclectic, discerning form of contemporary industrial music, deploying compulsive minimal synth and primal polyrhythms, as well as uniquely reconstrued elements of post-punk & EBM. Their on stage energy gives Sonic Youth vibes. Tickets.

2 August: Festival of Pinot wine – Fair

While the northern Luxembourg terroir is better known for its excellent Rieslings, the sites around Schengen are particularly suited for the production of exquisite Pinot wines (Burgundy wines). At the annual wine festival, you can discover the noble Pinots, from Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir to the internationally less known Auxerrois. Complete the wine tasting with a delicious “Friture de la Moselle”. No other dish is so associated with the Moselle region as the traditional dish made from fried, small Moselle fish. “E goude Patt” (a good glass) paired with a local Moselle dish are waiting for you in Schengen! 1–3 August: Open Air Cinema – Film

Sunset Cinema makes Mersch park its home for three nights, screening Wonka, Puss in Boots, Arielle, Barbie, Little Miss Sunshine and Fox an Fonsi. Screenings are free, just come early. More details.

3 August: Castle Festival Ansembourg – Fair

On Sunday 3 August, the Ansembourg Castle Festival invites visitors to explore its lush gardens and enjoy a vibrant cultural programme. Expect art, live music, theatre, workshops, and food from across Europe and Africa—all set against the backdrop of the valley. A relaxed day out with something for every member of the family. Info.

3 August:  Anika – Music

Anika, the Berlin-based artist and former journalist, returns with her third album Abyss – a raw, emotionally charged work that blends post-punk, dub and spoken word. Known for her intense solo performances and collaborations with everyone from Tricky to Jim Jarmusch, she blurs the lines between music, performance, and art. This show promises a hypnotic journey through sound and feeling – quietly confrontational, deeply immersive. Tickets.

5 August: Arsenal Mikebe – Music

Kampala percussion trio Arsenal Mikebe brings an electrifying fusion of traditional drumming, soulful vocals and jungle-infused rhythms. Their custom-built percussion setup—crafted by Ugandan sculptor Henry Segamwenge—blurs the line between the organic and the electronic. Expect a trance-like performance that feels as physical as it is hypnotic. Tickets.

5 August: Learn about common swift – Tour

From mid-April to mid-September, common swifts fill the skies above Grund with their distinctive calls and swift flight. Join biologist Catherine Kirsch for a guided walk to discover their nesting habits and how the community can help protect these vital birds. The tour begins at the Natural History Museum, with binoculars recommended for spotting the swifts in action.

6 August: Envy – Music

Japanese post-hardcore pioneers envy return with their signature mix of crushing intensity and cinematic beauty. Now a six-piece, the band’s recent albums The Fallen Crimson and Eunoia mark a new chapter in their nearly 30-year journey. Tickets.

7 August: Hannah Ida – Music

Inspired by artists like Alice Phoebe Lou, Thea Wang, and girl in red, Hannah Ida crafts intimate, versatile, and authentic bedroom pop. A core part of her work involves observing and showcasing both contemporary conflicts and life’s simple beauties. With her raw voice, accompanied by either guitar or ukulele, Hannah Ida delivers beautifully melancholic songs brimming with meaning and delicate sensibility. Free concert.

7 August: PIZZ'ORGIA – Food

PIZZ’ORGIA returns with an open-air edition at De Gudde Weather, serving endless rounds of plant-based sourdough pizza straight from the oven. Pizz’Otti and David Fluit bring the heat, while DJ Phixion sets the soundtrack for this laid-back summer feast. 8 August: Kabeaushé – Music

Kabeaushé’s live shows are a riot of joy, oddball pop, and rave-fuelled energy, driven by their magnetic alter ego, “the Shé.” Blending giddy brightness with raw edge, their evolving sound is as unpredictable as it is uplifting. This is less a concert than a communal release. Tickets.

8 August: Classical in the park – Music

Since 1983, the Concerts de midi have brought classical music into the heart of the city, offering a cultural pause during the lunch hour. Held on select Fridays from 12:30 to 1:30pm, the concerts range from well-loved classical pieces to unexpected musical gems. 8–10 August: E-Lake Festival – Music

E-Lake Festival returns to the shores of Echternach Lake for another weekend of live music, electronic beats, and laid-back summer energy. 9 August: Two Steps Twice Night – Music

Local label Two Steps Twice hosts a night of fresh indie sounds, featuring three standout acts from their roster. Sunny Gloom debuts Yann Gengler’s new alt-rock solo project, Ninon brings dreamy textures and a new single, and Cologne’s Easy Easy wrap things up with their latest indie rock tunes. 10 August: Being Dead – Music

Being Dead knows how to make an entrance, a fact made obvious by their studio albums and their live performances. The Texas-based band’s records are like mosaics, each song its own self-contained little universe where we can soak in stories of carefree shoplifters, fruitless 9‑to-5s, wayward cowboys, and the final moments of a lonely Buffalo on the range. Merging surf rock, freak pop and frantic punk, Being Dead never want to do the same thing twice on any song, and they don’t. Tickets.

10 August: Waiter's Hill Race – Sports/Social

Back for a third round of tray-balancing chaos, the Waiter’s Hill Race is part obstacle course, part performance art, and all about the vibes. Contestants—whether seasoned servers or curious tray-holders—tackle stairs, twists and the odd surprise, all without spilling a drop. 11 August: Been Stellar – Music

Leaving behind the driving shoegaze of their early recordings, the NYC-based five-piece Been Stellar tap into the disaffected sound and spirit of New York luminaries like Sonic Youth and Interpol, as well as the nihilistic, yearning cool of Iceage and Bends-era Radiohead, striking upon a sound that’s fearsome, buffeting and beautiful at the same time – a tidal wave as viewed from underneath. 12 August: Lunar Boy – Music

Lunar Boy From Salem is the latest sonic venture from Sébastien Laas (Cyclorama), channelling years of experimentation into a fresh, genre-blurring solo project. Sharing the stage is Florence Besch, whose self-styled “dream grunge” fuses gritty textures with ethereal pop and sharp songwriting. 13 August: Deadletter – Music

The world is brutal but there are cherry trees in blossom. This is the philosophy that underpins Yorkshire-born art-punk tearaways Deadletter. With members being friends from birth, there is an instinctive understanding of rhythm and danceability running through the group, which does nothing to take away from their obsession with frenetic energy and levity-grounded narrative lyricism. 14 August: Upchuck – Music

Upchuck is a five-piece band from Atlanta, formed from connections made in skateboarding, construction, and teenage delinquency. Shortly after releasing of their debut album, Sense Yourself, Upchuck embarked on a break-neck string of live shows, touring alongside the bands like Fuzz, Amyl and the Sniffers, and Subhumans. 15 August: Sprints – Music

2024 was quite the year for Sprints. The Dublin band unveiled their Top 20 debut album Letter To Self, opened for IDLES and Pixies, and delivered feverishly talked-about sets at Glastonbury, End Of The Road and All Together Now. Then, in September, they harnessed the adrenaline of non-stop gigging into new material and released a new single, ​“Feast”, which reinvigorated Sprints’ vision entirely. All of this has led to them becoming an essential new name in contemporary rock. 15 August: Bacchus festival – Festival

Each year on 15 August, Remich celebrates the Bacchus Festival around its iconic Bacchus Fountain, honouring the Roman god of wine. Expect a lively mix of local wine, music, and festive spirit flowing through the town’s streets. It’s a summer tradition with a nod to the divine origins of good grapes. More info.

16 August: Street Entertainment – Kids

Every Saturday this summer, Rue de l’Alzette in Esch comes alive with street performances and family-friendly fun. 17 August: Music flea market – Fair

Whether you're a vinyl hoarder, a band with leftover merch, or just hunting for that elusive reissue, the Vide-Disques & Merch-O-Rama is the place to be. Luxembourg’s first private music flea market invites music lovers to buy, sell, and trade records, cassettes, and band gear in good company. 17 August: Mountain Bike Tour – Sports

Discover the industrial heritage and natural beauty of the Minett region on a 30 km guided mountain bike tour through Titelberg, Fond-de-Gras and Lasauvage. With forest paths, moderate trails and a steam train ride back to Pétange, the experience blends outdoor adventure with local history. Suitable for confident riders aged 18+ (otherwise with adult), with registration and proper gear required.

18 August: Lara Grogan – Music

Lara Grogan grew up listening to artists like Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, and Carole King. Over the years, she expanded her influences, blending pop, folk, and classical music to create her own style. Her songs combine narrative and introspective lyrics with dream-like melodies, often inspired by her observations of the world and literary themes. She released her debut album in April 2024. 19 August: The Linda Lindas – Music

Since going viral with their LA Public Library performance of their song ​“Racist, Sexist, Boy” the world has watched The Linda Lindas scream about injustice, sing about growing up and exhibit the kind of altruism that is so meaningful to the punk scene. While their evolution as writers, performers and studio geeks is clear on No Obligation, their ethos remains steadfast. Tickets.

21 August: Delivery – Music

Confined to quarters during the longest lockdown in the world, a couple – who happen to be musicians – have all the time in the world and nowhere to go. As it turns out, Melbourne’s cautious approach to a global pandemic was the catalyst for Delivery – one of the most brilliant and forceful rock’n’roll bands to emerge from the southern hemisphere in years. 28 August: Giant Rooks – Music
