While the weather may seem dull and grey, but fear not – soon, the cities and towns will come alive with beautiful festive lights. You’ll have the chance to warm your hands around a steaming mug of mulled wine, all while being serenaded by the joyous seasonal tunes we all know and love.

Despite its small size, the Duchy is ram-packed with the most enchanting Christmas markets. Whether you live in the North, or the South, close to the German border or the French one, we are sure you will be able to find a market nearby, and fully immerse yourself this very special season.   1. Winterlights
    22 November – 1 January, multiple locations across Luxembourg City
    Luxembourg City’s Winterlights are a must-see during the holiday season. The market is spread across various locations in the city, including Place d'Armes, Place de la Constitution, Place de Paris, and the municipal park near Glacis. Visitors can explore unique handmade gifts, indulge in traditional holiday treats, or simply enjoy the festive atmosphere while strolling through beautifully illuminated streets.
  2. Wanterflair
    1–15 December, Communal Park Hesperange
    A family-friendly Christmas market with activities for everyone – whether you're attending with family, friends, or even your furry companions. The market opens on 1 December at 3pm and runs through to 15 December, with weekend openings starting at 3pm each day. Enjoy a mix of food stalls, entertainment, and festive crafts, making it a perfect spot for a cozy winter outing.

  3. Vegan Xmax Market
    14–15 December, Centre Culturel de Bonnevoie
    The Vegan Society Luxembourg brings the joy of a plant-based Christmas to the city with its two-day Vegan Xmas Market. It’s a must-visit for vegans and anyone interested in trying something new this holiday season. The market will be open on Saturday, 14 December, from 12pm to 9pm, and Sunday, 15 December, from 11am to 5pm. Expect a selection of vegan-friendly treats, gifts, and festive delights.

  4. Mersch Christmas Market
    30 November – 1 December, Place Saint-Michel
    This weekend market offers a delightful mix of Christmas stalls, shows, and entertainment, making it a fantastic place to soak in the holiday cheer. From 30 November to 1 December, Méchelsplaatz will be filled with festive vendors, live performances, and plenty of food and drink to keep you warm.

  5. Wantermaart
    29 November – 1 December, Parc Central, Bertrange
    For its 15th edition, this popular market has moved to a new location to accommodate more space for both visitors and entertainment. The market opens on Friday at 6pm and runs until 10pm, Saturday from 2pm to 10pm, and Sunday from 11am to 6pm. On Sunday at 3pm, Kleeschen, Luxembourg's beloved Santa figure, will also make an appearance at the market.

  1. Differdange Christmas Market
    29 November – 22 December, Place du Marché
    The oldest Christmas market in Luxembourg, Differdange’s market opens on 29 November at 6.30pm and is open Wednesday to Sunday from 2pm to 8pm, with extended hours on Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m. Visitors can enjoy a mix of traditional food, holiday crafts, and festive music, all set in the charming Place du Marché.

  2. Dudelange Christmas Market
    23 November – 15 December, various locations, traditional and medieval markets,
    Dudelange is a holiday hotspot, offering not one but two Christmas markets. The main market, located at Place Am Duerf, offers the usual festive delights, while an additional traditional market, running from 6 to 15 December at Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, boasts over 60 stands, showcasing everything from traditional food and drinks to local crafts. This market also features entertainment for all ages.

  3. Esch-sur-Alzette Christmas Market
    29 November – 22 December, Place de l'Hôtel de Ville
    With 24 festive stands, Esch-sur-Alzette’s market has plenty to offer, including live entertainment and even an open-air cinema – a new addition this year. The market also hosts a Kleeschen parade on 1 December, which will make its way through the city and end at the market for a truly festive experience.

  4. Pétange Christmas Market
    28 November – 1 December, Place John F. Kennedy
    Located in the southern part of Luxembourg, Pétange offers a quaint and cozy market perfect for those looking to enjoy a slower-paced Christmas atmosphere. With charming stalls and delicious festive food, it’s a great place to experience the holiday spirit.

  5. Bascharage Christmas Market
    6–8 December, Place Claus Cito
    This market offers a lively mix of live music, from professional performances to those by the local music school. Over the course of its three days, the market also serves delicious food, drinks, and holiday treats, making it a great place to enjoy the festive atmosphere while supporting local talent.

  1. Mondorf-les-Bains Christmas Market
    29 November – 15 December, Place des Villes Jumelées
    A weekend-only market, Mondorf-les-Bains hosts this festive gathering on Fridays from 4pm to 9pm, Saturdays from 12pm to 9pm, and Sundays from 12pm to 8pm. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy food, gifts, and entertainment while taking in the beautiful surroundings of the spa town.

  2. Grevenmacher Christmas Market
    7–8 December, Place du Marché
    The market at Grevenmacher offers a perfect blend of Christmas decorations, locally crafted gifts, and live entertainment. Visitors can also enjoy food and drinks from local associations. The festive spirit is enhanced by a variety of performances, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

  3. Echternach Christmas Market
    13–15 December, Place du Marché
    Set in Luxembourg's oldest city, the Echternach Christmas Market offers a charming historical backdrop for holiday shopping and enjoyment. Visitors can explore a range of stalls offering unique gifts and festive treats, all while surrounded by the rich history of the city.

  4. De Wanterfestival / Winter Street Food & Shopping
    14–15 December, Remich Swimming Pool Parking Lot
    Remich is hosting a couple of Christmas markets this year, and the Winter Street Food & Shopping market focuses on delicious street food and unique gifts. This market is perfect for foodies, with a range of street food offerings to enjoy while browsing gifts. Additionally, there’s other markets at the same spot on different weekends.

  5. Hobby Christmas Market in Mertert
    13–15 December, Park Mertert
    The Hobby Christmas Market in Mertert offers more than just shopping. In addition to festive stalls selling arts and crafts, there are carousels for kids, live music, and entertainment. If you're looking for a Christmas tree, you can also find one here, making it a great family destination.

  1. Vianden Christmas Market
    30 November, Place Vic Abens

The market also features entertainment, making it a delightful destination for holiday shoppers. 

  4. Ettelbruck Christmas Market
    13–15 December, Town Centre
    Ettelbruck's Christmas market offers a wonderful mix of shopping, street performances, and concerts. It’s the perfect place to find unique gifts while enjoying a festive atmosphere. The market is set in the town center, with additional activities throughout the weekend to entertain the whole family.

  5. Diekirch Christmas Market
    20–22 December, Pedestrian Zone
    Diekirch's Christmas market is set in the heart of the town, offering a festive experience in its pedestrian zone. With a variety of stalls, food, and entertainment, this market is the perfect way to wrap up the Christmas season.
