
The German parliament only passed the introduction of the new passenger ticket for regional and short-distance travel last Friday. Days after the vote in the Bundestag, the ticket is now available in pre-sale.
The €49 ticket is the successor of the '€9 ticket’, which the German government introduced as a temporary measure against inflation in summer last year.
Read also: €9 German transport ticket slashed 1.8 million tonnes of C02The new offer will come into effect on 1 May as a digital subscription that renews automatically, but which can still be suspended on a monthly basis. The ticket grants access to all busses and trains considered part of Germany’s regional and short-distance network. Not included are Intercity Express trains, Intercity trains, Eurocity trains, private coaches, and most ships.
