Trailing only classic smash burgers in popularity, a brisket dish prepared by a Luxembourg-based restaurant has outperformed international competitors at Barcelona's premier meat festival.
A Luxembourg-based restaurant secured second place at the Meat & Fire festival held in Barcelona.
TERRA Steakhouse from Luxembourg City distinguished itself with its melt-in-the-mouth brisket, becoming the second most popular stand at one of Europe's largest barbecue festivals.
From 13 to 15 June, the Meat & Fire festival brought together over 30 international chefs and thousands of visitors at Barcelona's port. Among the participants from all over the world, TERRA Steakhouse finished in second place among the event's most popular stands, narrowly trailing smash burgers in the ranking.
The restaurant focused on a single speciality: slow-cooked, melt-in-the-mouth brisket, served in a sandwich or on a plate. This iconic dish, which combines expert cooking, careful cut selection, and homemade seasoning, captivated the public, with 1,737 portions served in three days. In total, 500 kilos of meat were cooked on site, with 14 hours of grilling daily.
For Yannis Xydias, director of Mansogroup, this participation was both a logistical challenge and an international showcase: "Serving so many portions in such a short time wasn't simple, but our team kept pace."
Chef Manuel Barra, leading the kitchen team, was able to demonstrate his expertise in slow cooking, spiced marinades, and precise carving – techniques he applies daily at his establishment in Luxembourg.
The ten-strong Luxembourg team stayed at Barcelona Marina during the event. Beyond the ranking, the experience was also marked by exchanges with other professionals from the international culinary scene.
