The Netherlands has a lot to offer; Eindhoven and Tilburg, both approximately three hours by car from Luxembourg, promise many different experiences for families with children (and not only for the children!).

Here are some TravelMatKanner ideas for what to enjoy with the kids in the area:

1. Speelland Beekse, Bergen

Speelland Beekse Bergen is basically a huge indoor and outdoor playground by the water.

There is white sand everywhere, a great indoor playground, a large area with outdoor playgrounds and attractions by the beach, shops, games, water slides, water games, climbing structures, a restaurant, and a café.

Everyone will enjoy it, but you may face one problem: the kids will not want to leave.

You can check the facilities, entry fees, and practical information here.

2. Safari Animal Park Beekse, Bergen

Home to hundreds of animals from across Africa and beyond, Safari Park Beekse Bergen offers unforgettable safari experiences by car, boat, bus, or on foot.

From majestic lions and towering giraffes to playful monkeys and powerful rhinos, every route brings you closer to the animals in spacious, natural habitats.

Perfect for families and children, Beekse Bergen combines the thrill of a real safari with beautiful Dutch scenery and relaxing attractions.

The park also has numerous playgrounds, wooden structures, areas to eat and rest, as well as lodges if you want to stay overnight.

All the details are available here.

3. Three theme parks to visit close by

Believe it or not, there are three theme parks you can visit if you are staying in the area:

  • Efteling

Step into a world of wonder at Efteling, one of Europe's most enchanting theme parks.

Filled with magical forests, fairytale attractions, thrilling roller coasters and charming shows, Efteling offers unforgettable experiences for visitors of all ages.

Whether you are exploring the Fairytale Forest or soaring through exciting rides, every corner of the park brings imagination and adventure to life.

More information can be found here.

  • Toverland

Discover endless fun and adventure at Toverland, a magical theme park where fantasy and excitement come together.

With thrilling roller coasters, enchanting themed worlds, and attractions for all ages, Toverland offers an unforgettable day full of wonder, laughter, and adventure for the whole family. It is especially good for smaller children.

All the details are available here.

  • Bobbejaanland, Belgium

This park is great for families who enjoy roller coasters.

It is the perfect size for an unforgettable day out, especially if you have older children, pre-teens, or teenagers. There are many nice attractions, very good roller coasters, and quite a lot to enjoy for the size of the park.

If you like these kinds of attractions, this is a must-visit.

You can find more information about Bobbejaanland (in French) here.

4. A day in Eindhoven

This is a vibrant city, partly thanks to its university. It is perfect for shopping and city strolls, but it also has some very interesting and child-friendly museums.

We recommend the following:

  • Next Nature Museum

The Next Nature Museum looks like a UFO or flying saucer, and is a great science museum to discover with children.

You can find more details about it here.

  • Philips Museum

Philips was originally from Eindhoven, and the Philips Museum is housed in the company's very first light bulb factory.

The museum takes visitors through the company's journey from a small lighting workshop to a global technology leader. Interactive exhibits and fascinating displays show how Philips helped shape modern life through inventions in lighting, healthcare, and electronics.

Children can take part in fun, hands-on activities, including interactive challenges, digital games, and family missions that guide them through the museum in a playful way.

One of the highlights is Mission Eureka, where children use tablets to complete tasks and discover how inventions such as LED lighting and X-rays work in a simple and engaging way.

All the details can be found here.

  • DAF Museum

Visit the fascinating DAF Museum in the heart of Eindhoven, where the story of Dutch truck and car manufacturer DAF comes to life.

Housed in the original 1920s factory building, the museum showcases an impressive collection of vintage cars, trucks, engines, and prototypes that tell the story of innovation and transport.

It is a very child-friendly museum, making it a great outing for families. Children can enjoy interactive exhibits, a fun scavenger hunt, and a special traffic and transport area where they can learn through play.

The large, colourful vehicles and hands-on elements make it engaging even for younger visitors, not just car enthusiasts.

With its mix of history, technology, and interactive activities, the DAF Museum offers an interesting and enjoyable experience for both adults and children.

More information can be found here.

5. Van Gogh Village Museum, Nuenen

If your children are a little older and love art, a visit to the Van Gogh Village Museum in Nuenen, around 15 minutes by car from Eindhoven, is highly recomendable.

This museum is fully interactive, has wonderful displays, and has been designed in a way that makes it enjoyable even for younger visitors. You can learn about the life of the famous painter, understand more about the way he worked, and walk through the streets of the small town where he lived during his time in Nuenen.

Children can also take part in a booklet activity and answer questions as they move around the exhibits.

At the end, they can hand in their booklets to reception in exchange for certificates.

Free audio guides in several languages are also available, making the visit even more comfortable and informative.

Check out all the details here.

So, if you are looking for a long weekend with many different experiences, all only around three hours from Luxembourg, this part of the Netherlands is a wonderful idea.
