Hof van Saksen is a large holiday resort in the eastern Netherlands, near Dalfsen, set on a former estate and surrounded by countryside
The resort combines traditional Saxon-style architecture with modern facilities, offering everything from cosy cottages to spacious villas and farmhouses suitable for larger families and groups.
Guests can enjoy an indoor swimming pool and water park, a spa and wellness area, restaurants, cafés, a supermarket, and a wide range of sporting and recreational activities, including tennis, mini-golf, and cycling.
There is also plenty for children of all ages, from toddlers and preschoolers to teenagers, with playgrounds, animals, and organised activities throughout the year.
The main highlight is the water park, which features some spectacular slides, including the largest indoor bowl slide in the Netherlands and the longest funnel slide in the world.

The Netherlands is home to some beautiful Landal holiday parks, and one of my favourites is Landal Waterparc Veluwemeer.
Set beside a lake in a peaceful natural setting, the park has an almost fairytale-like atmosphere. There are plenty of activities on site, while its location also makes it a convenient base for exploring nearby attractions.
Amsterdam is within reach, with family-friendly highlights such as the NEMO Science Museum and Micropia, the world's first museum dedicated to microbes.
Other nearby attractions include Walibi Holland theme park, the Aviodrome aviation museum, the Dolfinarium, and the wonderfully whimsical Hans & Grietje pancake house, which is an absolute must in my opinion.
Accommodation ranges from cosy apartments to spacious multi-bedroom villas. Many include kitchens, dining areas, saunas, and furnished balconies or terraces, with some offering views over the lake.
On-site facilities include a café, restaurant, supermarket, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, playgrounds, mini-golf, and direct access to the beach.
The waterside setting is also ideal for activities such as sailing and fishing, while the surrounding area is perfect for cycling, with routes leading through nature reserves and nearby towns.

Dolfinarium - Het grootste zeezoogdierenpark van Europa!

The main complex consists of around 38 cube-shaped homes, alongside a larger building known as the Super Cube.

For families who love animals and the idea of going on safari, Beekse Bergen is an excellent choice.
One of Europe's largest wildlife parks also offers a range of family-friendly accommodation, allowing visitors to stay overnight close to the animals.
One of the most impressive options is the luxury six-person tree house (called "boomhut"). It includes a living room with a television, an open kitchen with a Nespresso machine, three bedrooms, and a private bathroom.
From the terrace, guests can look directly over the savannah and water while watching the animals during breakfast. It is a view that is difficult to find anywhere else in the Netherlands.
The resort also offers safari lodges, safari tents near the animal enclosures, and more traditional cottages for larger families and groups.
Other facilities include an indoor swimming pool and both indoor and outdoor playgrounds, so there is plenty to do even when you are not exploring the safari park.
