The big day has finally arrived – it's your child's birthday! Only one question remains: how are you going to celebrate?

Let's take a look at some of the many options Luxembourg has to offer in the way of children's parties.

Soft play parties

There are several soft play centres in Luxembourg which offer birthday packages. Zig Zag in Bertrange offers access to their soft play areas and a private birthday table. Prices start at €18 per child. For young teens, you can hire out the entire space for an exclusive disco with pizza party, lasers, video games, and fireworks.

Yoyo is a large jungle-themed centre with hidden animals, waterfall slide and a large restaurant. Prices start from €19.50 for a 2.5-hour slot and a private room. Another great soft play destination is Fun City in Pétange, which boasts slides, ball pits, trampolines, and a small electric karting track. It works out at between €10 and €17 per child.

Laboratorium is an intimate venue in Livange which offers a small soft play area and giant animals to climb on, a space themed laser tag room and a few pets to hold, such as snakes and guinea pigs. Contact them directly for a party package quote.

Sports parties

Little Lions Luxembourg offers multi-sport birthday parties under the guidance of their specialist coaches. Children have the chance to expend their energy through lots of activities including gymnastics and ball games. You will pay a €150 deposit to reserve your party date and you can then get in touch to arrange your personal preferences. Price per child €22.50.

Little Gym in Bertrange offers the use of gymnastic equipment alongside fun activities including music and parachutes. Two qualified instructors oversee the activities. Party slots are only available at the weekend. It will cost you €520 for 1.5 hours and 15 children.

Luxembourg boasts several Youth Hostels with very impressive facilities. They offer many different birthday packages across the country. Your child and their friends can go Geocaching in Larochette, Echternach, or Luxembourg with the 'Indiana Jones' package; try out climbing in the 'Tarzan' package in Echternach; channel their inner 'Robin Hood' during archery in Beaufort; or have fun paddle boarding or kayaking in Lultzhausen (please note, children must be able to swim for this package). Standard price is around €300 for 10 children.

Ice skating parties are offered at the Kockelscheuer complex, for what they describe as 'the coolest birthday experience in the country'! They also offer roller skating and skateboarding parties in the summer months (May to September). Minimum age is six.

For those thrill seekers amongst you, you could contact the team at Mondercange Karting where your child and their friends could go for a spin in a 200 cc kart, specially designed for kids over eight years old. €37 per child will get them 20 minutes of laps with exclusive use of the track. Please note that only 10 karts are allowed on the track at once, and parents or guardians will need to sign a waiver.

For more sporting activities, you could investigate the birthday packages at the Coque in Kirchberg, which include water games at the Aquatic Centre; climbing at the Red Rock centre in Soleuvre; or swimming parties in many of the communal pools around the country, which are listed here. If your child's birthday falls in the summer months, you could opt to take a birthday picnic to one of Luxembourg’s many amazing outdoor playgrounds!

Refreshments, cakes and decorations

Most of the packages above include refreshments, invitation templates, decorations for the table and sometimes even gift bags. Remember to ask if the venue offers a birthday cake as part of the package, as some places expect you to bring your own.

Don't forget to organise your party in good time, to ensure you get the date and time of your choice. Places usually get booked up a few months in advance.

Parties at Home

If you have enough space at home, you could consider hosting the party yourself and hiring an entertainer or a bouncy castle. Anima Kids have a range of inflatables; Dreaming Factory in Strassen will provide you with balloons in all shapes and sizes; and Happy Faces will transform the children into tigers, butterflies and superheroes with their face painting services.

And if you're feeling exhausted just thinking about all of this, perhaps The Party Ville, with their fantastic ideas for pirate, princess, and karaoke themed celebrations, could help take the stress out of the day!
