
There will be no time to get bored this summer: Luxembourg is bursting with opportunities to keep children entertained over the summer months, whether they are sporty, arty, techie, or outdoorsy.
Read on to discover the summer camps* on offer throughout the Grand Duchy this year!
*Please note, in this article, “camps” mostly refers to daily programmes rather than events which include an overnight stay.
Star Activities offer outdoor activities, time in nature, sports, working on a farm, adventure parks, as well as art sand crafts. For more of the great outdoors, children can learn through play in the camps on offer at Aktioun Bambësch, whose daily programme offers creative, artistic, and sporting activities, paired with discovery walks and theatrical events.
KidsCare offers holiday clubs, boasting adventure as well as learning opportunities, with each week following a different theme.
For Montessori-led fun and sporting activities, check out Active Kids based in Bereldange or the Montessori School in Hobscheid, which offer summer camps with weekly themes of 'Nature' or 'Farm' that will keep your children busy outdoors.
Young Caritas organises multiple trips and camps for children aged four to 17. This summer, the younger children can enjoy a couple of days in the Luxembourgish countryside, whereas older explorers have the opportunity to travel further afield – to Italy or Sweden, for instance. Similarly, the Red Cross also organises holiday camps abroad – to the seaside, the mountains, or the countryside!
There are several Youth Hostels dotted around the country and it's worth checking the individual websites of each one to see what's on offer. From bowling in Beaufort to climbing in Echternach, there is something for everyone.
The Luxembourg Guides and Scouts will often organise summer camps so contact your local scout group for details.
If you have a very active child, the multisports camps at La Coque are brilliant for encouraging them to try out lots of different sports, including water sports, team sports, and climbing – all under the supervision of La Coque staff or Luxembourgish athletes. Based at Merl Running Track and surrounding park areas, the Lëtz Get Fit Kids Summer Camps are designed for children aged four to 14 and are primarily outdoors, including team sports, athletics, obstacle courses, games, and treasure hunts.
For more multisports, have a look at the Little Lions website, whose summer camps are organised in collaboration with Top Squash to deliver an exciting array of sports-themed activities designed to engage and inspire boys and girls aged between three and 12 years old.
Little Gym in Bertrange offer children varied activities and daily challenges in their camps for children aged three and up. Weekly themes include superheroes, dinosaurs, and space.
Football Klinik Academy in Luxembourg City boasts qualified and committed coaches and wide variety of exciting and enriching programs for your child. Fussball Stagen has plenty of camps to choose from, in locations all across the country. For a themed World Cup Camp, the Soccer-Soccer Academy registration page is already open. About Football Performance offers camps across the country, as well as specific training opportunities for goalkeepers.
For basketball lovers, the 6th annual VIBBALL International Summer Camp will take place at the Youth Hostel in Luxembourg City. For one intense week, players will train in a professional yet supportive environment, guided by experienced international coaches. If your child is aged between 10 and 17, they can try out a week of rugby at St George's International School, building on their skills and fitness, as well as confidence and sportsmanship.
There are a couple of horse riding schools which offer camps for children, namely Baybees Riding School in Canach, Pony Adventure in Berdorf and Reitstall Equinox in Lintgen, who accept children from five years old for pony games and forest walks. At the Red Rock Climbing Centre in Soleuvre, children aged between six and 14 years old can sign up to a climbing camp, which includes activities for beginners as well as for experienced climbers. Or, try the climbing wall at the youth hostel in Echternach, which offers beginner, kids, and group courses.
Children who are into hockey can sign up to a camp with the Luxembourg Hockey Club. For racquet sports, there are various tennis camps across the country, including Bonnevoie Tennis Club, Tennis Club Sandweiler, ESTESS in Bertrange or Kockelscheuer, and another in Bridel at Tennis Spora. The Badminton Club at Kocklelscheuer offers holiday camps, just keep your eye on their Facebook page for updates; and the Badminton Club Schuttrange organises summer events too.
Do 3D design, electronics, or robots interest your child? Then have a look at Base 1 for available workshops. For coding, try Algorithmics Programming, whose holiday camps introduce children to web design, game design, and video content creation.
If your child is Lego-obsessed, then Bricks4Kidz offer Lego and robotics holiday camps, including half day collaborations with the Bonnevoie Tennis School (mentioned above). Tipp Topp Art Studio will be running a few courses over the summer if your child loves to get arty and creative!
The Music Factory in Roeser and Bergem runs Summer Sessions throughout the summer holidays. For traditional Irish music and dancing, head over to Comhaltas Luxembourg for details of their week-long summer school, which will be held at Michel Lucius International School.
Ever dreamed of DJing like a pro? Now's your chance! The Skilz DJ Academy junior summer school offers hands-on training, pro equipment, and expert guidance! This one is for teens aged 15 or above.
Older musicians interested in vocal coaching, singing techniques, and even beat boxing might like to investigate the Robert Schumann Musical Camp in Saarbrücken, which accepts singers from Luxembourg, France, and Germany aged 16 and over.
For theatre, arts and crafts, sports, and even psychology, have a look at the camps offered by St George's International School. The Luxembourg Theatre School in Neudorf runs summer camps, but please note these are in French and Luxembourgish only. For circus lovers, the Zaltimbanq Zirkus in Luxembourg City runs multidisciplinary workshops throughout the holidays.
At Schola Nova, the morning is dedicated to language learning (French, English, or German) and the afternoon to artistic, musical, culinary, or sporting activities. The camp takes place in the Chambre des Métiers in Kirchberg. The Institut Français of Luxembourg offers summer courses for children and teenagers. Two hours of intensive French lessons across a two-week period ensures that participants will strengthen their language skills.
Inlingua Luxembourg offers weeks of "Gamification" camps, a teaching strategy whereby playful learning in total immersion of the target language helps to stimulate speech and develop language skills. Languages offered are English, German, French, and Luxembourgish. Actilingua in Pétange offer holiday camps, so keep your eye on their website.
Many communes run activity weeks throughout the summer. For example, the Ville de Luxembourg organises Sport Weeks open for children aged 11 and up, but it is only open to residents of Luxembourg City. Check your local commune for individual offerings.
Finally, some municipal music schools offer musical or vocal summer camps, so contact your local music school or conservatory for any opportunities.
