Youtuber Max Fosh took part in one of Luxembourg's favourite pastimes in a very original way.
Driving through the whole country on a bike with training wheels seemed like a crazy idea, until British youtuber Max Fosh took it upon himself to tackle the Grand Duchy's most grueling stretches!
Riding from the west side of the country to the east, encompassing a distance of 50 kilometres. Child's play on a child's bike, one might think. Little did the famous content creator know that the journey would turn out to be more arduous than expected.
Fosh traveled all the way to the Belgian border where he got himself, as you do, a dainty pink bicycle with training wheels and matching pink helmet (safety first!). The plan was to start his adventure in Martelange (Belgium) and bike 50 km from the west to the east of Luxembourg, finishing his thrilling tour in Bollendorf (Germany). Unfortunately, he chose one of the coldest days of the year to execute his journey.
After just one day, the video of his tour has already gathered 380.000 views (12 January 2023). The youtuber has over 1.5 million subscribers and is one of the biggest content creators of the UK. Go ahead and have a look at Fosh's ups and downs in Luxembourg (literally) in the video above.
Max, who previously ran for Mayor of London, and is also a kind of spiritual leader spoke with RTL Today, to discuss how the idea of riding across the Grand Duchy came about.
"There was a trend already on YouTube, where people traveled long distances" says Fosh, who wanted to change things up, the trend-setter that he is, and find "something wholly unsuited" to do it with.
Max wasn’t sure about which country to pick, he said. They were looking for something wide enough to make it challenging, but small enough to make it plausible. So they ended up with Luxembourg.
And lucky for us, he made a wonderful promotion of Luxembourg’s north.
When asked why the north, Max admitted "the thinner part of the country" was his friend.
Of course, to make it work, "it required suffering" he said; and suffer he did, as you can witness yourself.
Max also admitted that he had been to Luxembourg before, in his teens, having visited friends in Belgium, but he has yet to make it down to Luxembourg City. We can’t share much yet, but if the stars align, he promised he’d be back to make quite the statement.
We also asked him, if he would be organising a ‘Max Fosh Barbie Bike Biking Across the Country’ race, as suggested by one of our compatriots on YouTube. Unfortunately not -- but he did say, that if we organised it, he would attend! Any takers?
