The 71st edition of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Bulgaria from 11 to 15 May. According to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which is responsible for the event, 36 countries have so far confirmed their participation in Burgas.
Spain and Slovenia remain undecided, with both countries yet to announce whether they will take part.
The Netherlands and Ireland have already announced that they will not participate in a boycott over Israel’s involvement. The Czech Republic will also be absent from this year’s contest.
North Macedonia, however, is returning after four years away from the ESC final. Canada has also been an official full member of the EBU since last year and will therefore be represented at this edition.
A total of 31 countries will compete in the two semi-finals, scheduled for 11 and 13 May. Twenty of them will then progress to the final on 15 May, where they will join host country Bulgaria and the pre-qualified countries France, Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom.
The act that will represent Luxembourg in Burgas will be decided at the Luxembourg Song Contest (LSC) final.
Twelve candidates are still in the running. In mid-November, it will be announced which of them have made it through to the grand final of the Luxembourg Song Contest, which will take place at the Rockhal on 30 January.
