What's On is back after nearly two months of quarantining. Despite most summer events postponed until next year, the local cultural scene has come up with innovative trends to continue entertaining, engaging and interacting with the public.

Luxembourg announced a partial restart this week, enabling cafés, restaurants and terraces to open their doors and parasols again. Furthermore, culture halls, music venues and theatres will also be back in business in the near future. Here is a mix of stay-at-home and public events for this weekend.

1. Greg Lamy & Lionel Loueke live from Philharmonie

What: Stream of two outstanding guitarists from the Philharmonie
Where: Follow on the venue's facebook page
When: Friday 29 May at 8pm

Greg Lamy and Lionel Loueke are not only best buddies, they are also two renowned jazz guitarists. Lamy hails from the Grand Duchy, but was born in New Orleans and graduated from Berklee College of Music. He has toured extensively around the world in various formations, releasing several CDs in his 25-year career. Loueke, too, is an incredible musician from Benin, having worked with Angelique Kidjo, Esperanza Spalding, Richard Bona, Herbie Hancock and Chick Corea. He's one of the top stars in the game. This Friday you have the chance to see both of them in action from the comfort of your home, as the Philharmonie streams a concert from their stage.

3. Bring popcorn to Mamer's drive-in cinema

What: Enjoy a movie in a stylish format just like our grandparents did
Where: Bauhaus parking, 37-39 Parc d'Activites Capellen, 8308 Mamer
When: Almost daily, but times vary - have a look here.

Drive-in theatres became a real hype between the 1940s-60s with rising car ownership and cheaper maintenance costs compared to a regular cinema. But its success faded with the coming of home entertainment. Now comes a true revival: COVID-19 has forced theatres to close, enabling drive-in theatres to relaunch to great enthusiasm. Enjoy a wide range of movies on offer in Mamer, with tickets only being €15 per car. Audio can be listened to over the radio thanks to an FM tower. Popcorn, anyone?
