Inspired by elements from ‘dream-pop luminaries’ like Slowdive and Smashing Pumpkins, the band has its origins in the early-2010s Brooklyn DIY music scene, but they quickly widened their range of sounds: they have merged aspects of British guitar pop, the rhythms of German psychedelia, bits of metal and shoegaze too!
DIIV perfectly continues the legacy of boundary-pushing rockbands, and their immersive live performance is an unforgettable experience. They will be playing their 2019 album in Esch at the Kulturfabrik this December.
If you are interested in hearing about the development of a record and the hardships of the band from DIIV’s frontman Zachary Cole Smith, then tune in to the interview below from 2022.
