On Saturday at around 1pm, police were alerted to a fight involving several people on Boulevard Docteur Charles Marx in Hollerich. According to initial findings, an altercation had broken out between two women and two men.

A police patrol intercepted those involved, who were visibly under the influence of alcohol. The two women had scratches and bloody lips. Further investigation showed that a physical altercation had taken place between two of the people present.

As one of the individuals was also suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, a breathalyser test was administered and came back positive. Additional checks revealed that the person was already subject to a driving ban.

The individual also remained aggressive, and as they posed a danger to themselves and to others, they were taken to a sobering cell following a medical examination.

Later, at around 3.40pm, police were informed of an altercation between two people in a park in Mersch. Initial reports indicated that a man had been threatened with a knife by another man who was intoxicated.

A police patrol arrived at the scene, located the two men and calmed the situation. The knife was seized, and an official report was filed.

Busy and rowdy weekend

This weekend was a particularly turbulent one. Between Saturday and the early hours of Sunday, more than a hundred incidents involving noise disturbances and altercations were reported across the country. Though in most cases, the situation was resolved on the spot.

On Saturday at around 8.30pm, police officers were alerted by shouting and the sound of glass bottles in Luxembourg City's Gare district. As they turned onto Rue du Fort Neipperg, they came across a man with a bleeding head wound.

According to initial reports, three men had approached the victim from behind, struck him on the head with a glass bottle and made off with his backpack. The suspects immediately fled the scene.

The victim sustained a head injury in the incident and was taken to hospital for medical treatment. An immediate manhunt to locate the suspects proved unsuccessful. An investigation has been opened.

On Saturday evening, police were notified of a vehicle zigzagging on the A1 motorway near the Potaschberg exit. A police patrol managed to locate and intercept the driver shortly afterwards.

During the subsequent check, officers noticed clear signs of alcohol consumption. A breathalyser test came back positive. The driver's licence was confiscated, and an official report was filed.
