Los Angeles singer and guitarist Will Paquin will release his debut album Hahaha on 12 September – entirely self-released, the record is a guitar-forward, psych-laced garage-rock burst that embraces chaos and humor in equal measure.

Today Radio listeners have already had a taste of what’s to come,  Paquin’s single We Really Done It This Time was recently featured as our Track of the Week. The latest release from the album, I Work So Hard, began life when Paquin was in middle school and carries the garage-psych spirit of early influences like Ty Segall and Thee Oh Sees. “I kept falling into patterns of working with no purpose, going through the motions just to check off boxes,” Paquin says. “The song is about coming to terms with my own false productivity.”

Written while touring and navigating a breakup, Hahaha blends raw energy with flashes of melancholy, often laughing through the tears. The album draws on inspirations ranging from The Beatles to Deerhoof and The Flaming Lips, channeled into a sound built for the stage rather than the bedroom.

Produced with longtime collaborator William Levin, the record was mixed by Nathan Boddy (James Blake, Nilüfer Yanya) and mastered by Mike Bozzi (Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Tyler, the Creator).
