Scottish rock giants Biffy Clyro are the focus of Wednesday's Artist Hour on Today Radio, airing from 8–9pm.
Known for their explosive sound, emotional depth, and unforgettable live shows, Biffy Clyro have spent nearly three decades building one of the most distinctive careers in modern rock and tonight, we’re diving into their legacy.
Formed in Kilmarnock in 1995, the trio of Simon Neil (vocals, guitar) and twin brothers James (bass) and Ben Johnston (drums) started out with a raw, math-rock-inspired sound before evolving into a band capable of packing out stadiums. Their breakthrough came with 2007’s Puzzle, a Platinum-selling album that launched them into the mainstream.
From there, they delivered chart-topping records like Opposites and Only Revolutions, crafting a sound that fuses heavy riffs, melodic vocals, and anthemic choruses with lyrical themes exploring mental health, human resilience, and personal struggle.
Their live performances have become the stuff of legend, intense, immersive, and emotionally charged earning them headlining spots at major festivals across Europe. In 2022, Today Radio’s own Steps interviewed drummer Ben Johnston, giving listeners an intimate look at the band’s continuous quest for progression.
The spotlight on Biffy Clyro comes at an exciting time. The band has just announced a major European headline tour for 2026, with a stop at Rockhal on 19 February 2026. Just last week, Today Radio ran a ticket giveaway for the show, and anticipation is already building for what promises to be a powerful return to Luxembourg.
Tickets for the show which is organised by den Atelier will go on general sale at 11am on 31 July via their website.
Tonight's Artist Hour will feature a curated hour of Biffy’s biggest tracks, deep cuts, and fan favourites from early jagged guitar work to the soaring, emotionally charged rock anthems that have defined their later albums like A Celebration of Endings and The Myth of the Happily Ever After.
