Amy Macdonald returns with her sixth studio album, Is This What You've Been Waiting For?, which will hit shelves (both physical and visrtual) on 11 July via Infectious.
Known for her uplifting songwriting and raw authenticity, Amy has built a loyal global following through five Top 5 albums, over 12 million records sold, and more than a billion streams. Her captivating live performances have reached over 5 million people worldwide – and she's now set to hit the road again with a major UK and European tour, including a huge homecoming show at Glasgow's OVO Hydro.
The new album is a bold, emotionally charged collection that captures Amy’s spirit of resilience and reflection. Drawing from personal experiences and observations, she dives into themes like toxic friendships, breaking free from expectations, and reclaiming one’s identity.
There’s a powerful undercurrent of hope and survival throughout, anchored by a heartfelt connection to the fans who’ve stayed with her from the beginning. As Amy puts it: "There’s a realness in me, something raw – honestly I’m winging it most of the time."
The title track, Is This What You’ve Been Waiting For?, leads the charge with pulsating energy and a euphoric call to arms. Inspired by the immersive spectacle of The Sphere in Las Vegas, the song taps into the magic of live performance while critiquing the relentless demand for new content in the streaming era. "Music is an experience", Amy says. "Gigs have always been the most important part for me."
Produced by Nicolas Rebscher (AURORA, Louis Tomlinson) alongside Grammy-winner Jim Abbiss (Adele, Arctic Monkeys), the album will be available on digital platforms, black vinyl, and CD via Amy’s official store, with an exclusive signed deluxe edition available through Amazon.
Amy Macdonald will play den Atelier Monday 9 February – ticket info here
