Josh Island is back with a brand new single and Today Radio had the honour of giving it its first spin this morning on The Sam Steen Show – Courage, officially out this Friday, marks the start of a bold new chapter for the Luxembourg-based singer-songwriter.

Driven by gritty, arpeggiated guitars and a darker sonic palette, Courage explores the inner struggles we often keep hidden, what Josh describes as the "monsters in our chest". But rather than dwell in the shadows, the song lifts its gaze toward hope, pairing emotional depth with soaring choruses that are equal parts vulnerable and uplifting.

"This song is about facing your monsters, but not letting them take over your life", Josh explained, "Many of us deal with anxiety or dark thoughts, and that's nothing to be ashamed of. I wanted to write something that acknowledges that struggle but also reminds us that better days do come."

Originally written as a quiet acoustic track, Courage evolved into something far more dynamic thanks to Amsterdam-based producer Ben Rheinländer, whom Josh met at a songwriting camp in Berlin. "There's a strong contrast between the shadowy verses and the open, hopeful choruses", Josh says. "That tension gives the track the uplifting power it needs. I haven't been this excited about a new release in a long time."

Courage is Josh's first release since his 2023 debut album In My Head, which led to a 25-date European tour, appearances at Reeperbahn Festival, and a support slot for Clueso. More recently, he has performed at Luxembourg's Kinnekswiss Loves... event and a string of German festivals.

A second album is on the way, set for release in early 2026.
