Global pop phenomenon Dua Lipa was rehearsing at Rockhal last week, according to a post on her social media and confirmed to Today Radio by Rockhal CEO Olivier Toth.
Her presence in Luxembourg was kept very quiet by the Rockhal team, as rehearsals are highly sensitive. On Sunday, Dua posted a series of pictures and a behind the scenes dancing video in a space which looked like the venue's Main Hall.
Rockhal CEO Olivier Toth, who spoke to Stephen Steps Lowe on Today Radio on Monday morning, said that he was worried the country would find out after Dua posted to social media, but since then she has left the country. Management ask venues to keep their lips sealed about these kinds of projects.
Toth explained that occasionally Rockhal also get a show out of the rehearsal, but that is not the case this time. Luxembourg is not part of Dua Lipa's current world tour itinerary, which starts in Berlin on Wednesday.
Booker Arnaud Velvelovich added that Dua was "here with her production for 10 days, around 150 people, to prepare her festival tour (Glastonbury, Werchter etc.). She prepared and rehearsed her set 2 or 3 times a day".
"The Rockhal is the perfect venue for them because for these big productions, it's like a studio where you can set everything up with all the facilities and professionalism," said Velvelovich.
English rock band Muse also rehearsed at the Rockhal for a tour once. To prepare for the band's performance at Wembley Stadium, management had asked the venue to draw the stage plot of Wembley Stadium in Main Hall to check if everything fits how it should.
Depeche Mode once rented the Rockhal for 9 days in 2009, the longest period a band ever booked the space. They also played the first show of their European tour at Rockhal.
Neil Young's Crazy Horse also rehearsed here.
Dua Lipa played the Rockhal Club in October of 2017.
