The first artists and acts for edition #16 of the summer festival at Rotondes have been announced.
As one of the most diverse and progressive summer festivals in Luxembourg, Congés Annulés is always guaranteed to have something for everyone and this year is no different. Running from July 26 to August 21, a whole month of concerts, DJ sets and other festivities have been announced with a program perfect for soundtracking the summer nights at one of Luxembourg's most exciting venues.
Here's Today Radio's pick of the bunch announced so far...
Billy Nomates
With 16 main acts announced, the first weekend of the festival will kick-off on Friday, 26 July with energetic English solo star Billy Nomates - last seen in Luxembourg bringing down the house at the Melusina Stage of Siren's Call in 2023.
Sofi Paez
Following up on the Saturday evening will be Costa Rican pianist Sofi Paez and her unique blend of piano, voice and electronica. In 2023 she was handpicked to perform at Ólafur Arnalds’ OPIA launch event — where it was announced Sofi will be the first signing to his OPIA label.
Bartleby Delicate
On the Sunday evening, Luxembourg's own - and Rotondes favourite - Georges Goerens makes a welcome return to the stage with his contemporary folk and electronica project, Bartleby Delicate.
Lifeguard
Rounding off the first weekend of acts will be American punk outfit Lifeguard, taking to the stage on the Monday evening with their own approach post-hardcore tunes. Visceral to say the least.
And that's just the first set of acts of what will be four weeks of fantastic music, art and entertainment.
Other notable highlights include the return of Detroit post-punk heavyweights Protomartyr (last seen at Congés Annulés in 2018); Philadelphia-based indie rockers Mannequin Pussy; high-octane London duo 'O'; and up-and-coming post-punk noisemakers from Ireland, Chalk.
