How to get away with murder in pixelform, this game is sorta, kinda, if you squint, like a cuter version of Hitman. Pulling off the perfect matricide has never been so fun...though I am at pains to point out, this is my first and only try.
You play as ambitious starlet Veronica Villensey, who as it happens, has just shoved husband over the side a luxury transatlantic ship. Your aim thereafter is to not get arrested for murder.
To ‘complete’ the main task of the game is actually surprisingly easy, some may even skate through on the first or second try, but to frame the perfect patsy and get off scott-free, pocketing oodles of cash, is way harder and far more devilish.

There is a degree of replay attached to the title, with numerous narrative twists and challenges set by NPCs scattered throughout the relatively tight run time.
The NPCs will move around the ship on the own time frames, witnesses to your actions will report to others, evidence will be uncovered. So, do you play the role of distressed damsel, or go the calculated killer route?
Eventually you will work out where you need to be at what time and what you need to say to whom, and the game developers Inkle, have thoughtfully added a fast forward option for players to skip through the text exposition heard previously - though the arch dialogue is also worth paying attention to.
Don’t expect Witcher level side quests or expansions, this is curio that rewards repeat plays for a limited time and at a price point well within good-value!

Overboard is out now and is available on Switch, PC, and iOS
