K Pop Demon Hunters 2
Streaming giant Netflix and studio Sony Pictures Animation have officially green-lit the sequel to the breakout animated hit KPop Demon Hunters, aiming for a 2029 release. The original film, which premiered in June 2025, became Netflix’s most-watched original movie of all time, and the follow-up will continue the story of the K-pop girl group Huntr/x as they battle supernatural forces through music and dance.
Production leads directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans (who helmed the first film) are expected to return, and early talks suggest the sequel may explore deeper back-stories of the characters Mira and Zoey. While no full plot or release date is yet confirmed, the strong commercial and cultural impact of the original, plus massive soundtrack and merchandise success, has set high expectations for the next chapter.
On Gremlins 3
Warner Bros./Amblin has officially confirmed Gremlins 3, with original screenwriter turned director Chris Columbus at the helm and Steven Spielberg returning as executive producer. A release date of 19 November 2027 has been announced, signalling a major revival for the beloved ’80s franchise.
While the core creative team is back, Columbus has acknowledged that the script is still in development, emphasising that the filmmakers are determined to make a sequel that lives up to the original rather than just bank on nostalgia. Expectations are high as the franchise enters its next chapter nearly four decades after the first film.
On the Michael biopic / Lionsgate’s statement
Lionsgate’s CEO has addressed recent speculation that the Michael Jackson biopic, Michael (directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring his nephew Jaafar Jackson), might be split into two separate films. While earlier reports suggested the film could be divided due to its runtime and the breadth of Jackson’s life story, Lionsgate clarified that no final decision has been made on a multi-part release.
The production has also faced delays and reshoots, especially concerning legal sensitivities around Jackson’s past, which may contribute to a revised release strategy. Though Lionsgate remains committed to the project, the marquee status and complexity of Jackson’s legacy mean the studio is proceeding cautiously ahead of the film’s expected 2026 debut
