Participants were meant to spend 24 hours running around Koerich, but ultimately the race lasted 26 hours, as the organisers failed to take the clocks changing into account.

On the Backyard Trail, there was a new departure every hour. If a participant ran fast to cover the 6.7km, they had a longer break, otherwise a shorter one. The runners did not spend the break in Koerich Castle, but everyone brought their own tent and equipment. The race consists of repeated one-hour laps, and concludes when a single runner completes a lap alone, thus leaving them the last one standing.

Alain Scheuer came up with the idea to organise a backyard trail in Luxembourg, following the event's growing popularity abroad.

In this event, four runners managed the feat of staying in the competition for 26 hours, covering a distance of 176km with a total elevation gain of 4,200m.
