Originally from Creutzwald, he spent much of his career playing in France, Luxembourg, and Germany.

Trained in Lorraine, Steimetz played for several French clubs, including Roye, Forbach, Amnéville, Lens, and notably FC Metz, where he made ten official appearances during the 2011-2012 season. He later wore the colours of CS Grevenmacher (2008-2009) and F91 Dudelange (2012-2014), with whom he won a Luxembourg championship title.

His career came to a sudden end in 2017 when he had to have a leg amputated following a malignant tumour. Despite this hardship, he stayed close to football, becoming the coach of SSEP Hombourg-Haut, an amateur club in Moselle, which he led to several regional successes.

In the past few hours, numerous tributes have appeared on social media, notably from FC Metz, his former Luxembourgish and Lorraine clubs, as well as from the amateur football community he had greatly influenced. All honour the memory of a talented and passionate player, respected for his dedication and kindness.
