Luxembourg0s U18 boys' national hockey team has made a strong start at the EuroHockey U18 Championship in Croatia, securing back-to-back victories and a draw in their opening matches.
The hard-working Luxembourgish team is having a great time at the EuroHockey Under 18 Championship III, taking place in Croatia. The youngsters defeated Bulgaria 5–2 on Monday, following it up with a 4–3 win against Lithuania on Tuesday. The team took a rest day before facing Slovakia early Thursday afternoon, in a match that ended in a 3–3 draw.
Luxembourg will now play host nation Croatia, who have been flying high this tournament with an aggregate score of 29–2 after two games.
Coached by former international player Federico Tanuscio, the 18-player squad has spent nearly a year preparing for the championship. Tanuscio praised the players for their dedication and cohesion, saying their recent performances reflect the team’s hard work, commitment, and unity.
Most of the squad has trained and competed together for years, a bond that has translated into strong teamwork on the pitch. In June, the team also gained valuable experience in friendly matches against France’s U18 side.

Hockey in Luxembourg has steadily developed since its introduction in 1976, with major progress marked by the construction of a professional pitch in Cessange in 2015. Youth teams now regularly compete in Belgium’s competitive league system, helping to raise the level of play.
A spokesperson for the Hockey Federation Luxembourg described the championship as a key step in the country's long-term development goals, adding that the aim is to continue improving and raise Luxembourg’s profile in international hockey.
