A decade after their world championship win, Luxembourg’s veteran table football team reached the 2025 World Championship final in Zaragoza, ultimately securing a silver medal after a strong performance against favourites the United States.
To reach the final, the team defeated neighbouring France in the semi-finals. They then faced the United States, widely considered favourites, in a closely contested final. The Americans ultimately won all four sets with scores of 10:7, 10:8, 10:2, and 10:8.
Still, the Luxembourg team, comprising Christophe Dias, Bruno Goncalves, Ricardo Rodrigues, Fabio Ferreira, Michael Correia, Carlos Ribeiro, Leonardo Stammera, and Steve Dias, returned home with a well-deserved silver medal.
The same core group brought home gold in 2015 and has remained a top contender on the international scene ever since, representing a country with a proud café-sport tradition in table football.
