Luxembourg’s national rugby team started their new Rugby Europe Conference season in remarkable style on Saturday, defeating Estonia 106-5 in Tallinn. The match kicked off at 9am Luxembourg time (12pm local time), and by the final whistle, the Red Lions had crossed the try line 16 times and successfully converted 13 of those tries. The overwhelming result sets a powerful tone for Head Coach James Kent’s squad in this year’s campaign.
With this emphatic win, Luxembourg now lead Group A of the Rugby Europe Conference. Their points difference is notably superior to that of Finland, who managed a 34-3 win over Estonia just one week earlier. Norway, the fourth team in the group, are yet to play their first fixture.
The Red Lions will play their next match at home in the Stade de Luxembourg on 24 October, facing Norway at 3pm.
