Luxembourg’s James Dunn and Germany’s Edith Stiepel claimed victory in the 2025 Night Marathon on Saturday, both setting the pace in front of a crowd of 100,000 spectators.

The 2025 edition of Luxembourg’s traditional Night Marathon took place on Saturday, drawing 17,000 runners to the capital. Around 2,000 participants tackled the full marathon distance, while the rest competed in the half marathon. New course records were set in both events, and approximately 100,000 supporters lined the course to create an electric atmosphere.

Marathon

In the marathon, Luxembourg’s James Dunn claimed victory in 2:29:04 hours, setting a new course record and reaching the finish line at Luxexpo on Kirchberg. Germany’s Caleb Trabitzsch finished second in 2:33:45, followed by another Luxembourger, Luc Scheller, who completed the podium in 2:37:38.

Among the women, Germany’s Edith Stiepel secured first place in the marathon with a time of 3:12:32. She was followed by Tatiana Proca (3:15:01) and Luxembourg’s Karin Schank (3:15:54).

Half marathon

In the half marathon, French runner Benjamin Polin triumphed among the men, finishing in 1:05:56 and setting a new course record. He was trailed by Germany’s Simon Bong (1:09:52) and Portugal’s João Cruz (1:13:08). The fastest Luxembourger was Eric Gonderinger, clocking 1:16:27.

Germany’s Teresa Frank dominated the women’s half marathon, taking the top spot with a time of 1:21:50. She was joined on the podium by Michelle Trumm (1:22:53) and Tine Hausmann (1:24:16). The fastest Luxembourger was Anne Reiser, who finished in 1:25:50.
