Only the winners of the longlines Global Champions Tour 2024 were able to compete in this show jumping tournament, for which Luxembourger Victor Bettendorf had qualified in Rome this summer.
A total of 15 riders faced a two-round jump of over 1,65 meters. Bettendorf and his horse Foxy de la Roque managed both rounds without any faults, and made the best time in the second round, securing their win.
Riding Foxy de la Roque, the Luxembourger navigated both challenging rounds flawlessly. With the fastest time in the second round (66.98"), Bettendorf and his horse clinched victory, finishing ahead of Belgian rider Gilles Thomas (70.28") and Ireland's Michael Duffy (79").
The Luxembourgish Sports Federation speaks of a significant moment in Luxembourgish sporting history.
Of the six events contested at 1.60m, Victor Bettendorf and Foxy de la Roque "won five," according to the magazine Grand Prix. The victories included the Grand Prix in La Corogne in July, the qualifier and Grand Prix in Rome in September, the event in Lyon three weeks ago, and most recently, the Longines Super Grand Prix in Riyadh this Friday.
