Summary of the stages
After a tense start marked by numerous attacks, including those from top contenders like Mathieu van der Poel, three riders managed to break away and controlled much of the stage. With around 25 kilometers to go, the race hit the Pabeierbierg climb for the first time, sparking a series of attacks from the peloton.
Luxembourg's Alex Kirsch and Bob Jungels, along with three other riders, briefly broke away but were quickly caught up with. At the front, Archie Ryan and Johannes Staune-Mittet, both part of the day’s early breakaway, maintained their lead.
On the second ascent of the Pabeierbierg, Marc Hirschi surged ahead, bringing the peloton back together. Shortly after, a new breakaway formed, featuring Antonio Tiberi, David Gaudu, Quinn Simmons, and Jordan Jegat.
The stage winner emerged from this group, with Gaudu powering ahead to claim victory. Simmons and Jegat followed, taking second and third place, respectively.
Luxembourg’s Arno Wallenborn put in a strong performance in the closing stages, finishing 12th, just 31 seconds behind the winner. Mats Wenzel also impressed, crossing the line in 17th with the same time gap, securing a top-10 position in the overall classification.
