The Luxembourgish athlete finished sixth in the European Championships on Saturday, while Italy's Leonardo Fabbri took the gold.

The Italian achieved a throw of 22.45 metres, giving him a 1.2-metre-lead over second-placed Filip Mihaljevic from Croatia. Michal Haratyk from Poland came third with 20.94 metres.

Bob Bertemes from Luxembourg qualified for the final with a distance of 20.23 metres on Friday. On Saturday evening he managed a throw of 20.86 metres, but fell just short of the podium. He also had four invalid attempts in six attempts.

Fourth- and fifth-placed Tomas Stanek and Scott Lincoln managed a distance of just 2 centimetres more than Bertemes.

Luxembourg's Ruben Querinjean participated in the 3,000 metre hurdles on Saturday morning, but could not qualify for the next round.
