The Luxembourg international was not present in court on Wednesday, amid allegations of domestic violence against his ex-partner.

The public prosecutor's office has requested a 15-month prison sentence for Luxembourg international footballer Gerson Rodrigues, with a suspended probation. In 2022, the forward was accused of domestic violence towards his ex-girlfriend. The prosecutor also requested anger management therapy, as well as compensation for the victim.

The trial's verdict will be delivered on 27 March.

The Luxembourg men's football team, including Rodrigues, are due to face Georgia on 21 March in their last-ditch attempt to qualify for this year's European Championships in Germany. If successful, they will go on to play either Greece or Kazakhstan in the play-off final on 26 March.
