The Red Lions continue their European qualifying campaign at home against Iceland on Friday evening, and RTL Today is here to cover it.

The Red Lions head into their first match of this International break full of hope and excitement. Luxembourg find themselves third in Group J having taken 7 points from their first four games in this qualification campaign. A win would see them take a massive step towards qualification, with Slovakia facing group leaders Portugal tonight and again in October.

However things have not been going so well for tonight's opponents. Iceland were the darlings of international football back at Euro 2016 having reached the quarter finals fuelled by their fans and the "Thunder Clap", but this time out they have struggled through their opening fixtures picking up a solitary win against Liechtenstein.

Yet, even with so much at stake, Luxembourg manager Luc Holtz is playing things cool.

"Every match is important, the players are calm. We know what we can do, we know what the opponent can do. The winner will be decided by who performs on the day."

One notable absentee for Luxembourg will be top scorer Gerson Rodrigues following his latest disciplinary issues during the previous international break. The striker is back out on loan in Turkey, but he will have to work extremely hard to repair the relationships he damaged with his behaviour back in July. Vincent Thill was also dismissed from the team in July, however he appears to have cleared the air with Holtz and returns this time alongside his brother Sebastien who missed out last time through injury.
