Luxembourg's athletes faced a series of challenges at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, with several narrowly missing out on advancing to the next rounds despite commendable performances.

The 2023 World Athletics Championships kicked off in Budapest on Saturday morning.

Among Luxembourg's delegation are shot putter Bob Bertemes, who missed out on the final after he failed to make a valid attempt in the qualifying round. This is particularly unfortunate since his season best of 21.21 metres would have been enough to make the final round.

In the women's 1500 metre race, Vera Hoffman came twelfth out of 14 and therefore missed out on the semi final. The Luxembourger took four minutes, nine seconds, and 76 hundredths to finish the race - close to three seconds longer than her own national record.

Patrizia Van der Weken missed out on the 100 metre semi final on Sunday morning. She finished her qualifying round as fourth in 11.38 seconds, which is also slightly above her season best of 11.02 seconds.
