Fondation Cancer, the organisers of the annual Relais pour la Vie charity run, have announced that the 2020 edition of the sports event has been cancelled due to the risk of coronavirus.
The event was due to take place over 21 and 22 March 2020, but the organisers announced the cancellation on Wednesday morning.
In the press release, they wrote that they are cancelling the event, which has more than 13,000 participants annually, with a heavy heart. "Our absolute priority is the health of the people running, the people helping, and especially those cancer patients who have weakened and compromised immune systems," the director of Fondation Cancer Lucienne Thomes wrote.
The foundation made the decision following the Health Directorate's evaluation of coronavirus COVID-19.
