Luxembourg PM Luc Frieden and Sports Minister Martine Hansen attended the start of the Tour de France stage in Mulhouse on Saturday.

With a view to the 2028 Tour de France, a Luxembourg delegation travelled to the start of the race's 14th stage. Frieden and Hansen were accompanied by former professional cyclist Kim Kirchen.

Before the stage began, the delegation visited the so-called Tour Village, where they had the opportunity to speak to several figures from the cycling world, including Kirchen's former teammate Sir Mark Cavendish.

Shortly afterwards, the Tour de France president held a private meeting with the PM and sports minister. According to RTL sources, the discussion focused on possible routes for the 2028 Tour, which is expected to pass through the Greater Region and parts of Luxembourg.

The delegation also met Alex Kirsch, the only Luxembourg rider competing in this year's Tour. After the start, they travelled to the finish at Le Markstein Fellering.
