Do you think it is possible to take actions for others by staying exactly where you are, whether it is behind your desk, on your couch, or enjoying your favourite hobby? Since 2020, we have understood that it is possible to save lives by staying at home. Today, on World Human Solidarity Day, find out about all the numerous ways you can get involved.
Commitment is a big word, with a legal, political, as much as a social meaning. However, we would like to highlight its more philosophical meaning: the promise to accomplish something out of solidarity. There are plenty of opportunities to get involved. However, it is about finding the ways that suit us best by asking ourselves the right questions:
From there, you have a multitude of options. To begin with, technology has brought a lot of new things to the way we interact with our community. Do you know "Lilo," the solidarity search engine? It allows you, using this internet browser, to collect "water drops" which get converted into money and are donated to a solidarity project of your choice among Lilo's list. In other words, by carrying out your research online, it is possible for you to raise funds. Now, when there are thousands of us doing it every day, imagine the impact of such a mundane action.

Then there is GivenGain, a platform that allows anyone to become a fundraiser and raise money for a cause they care about by doing something they love. GivenGain has become the "online home of generosity" by managing, for individuals, all technical aspects behind raising funds. For example, some run for a cause and get sponsored to do it by friends and family, while others cook and sell their pastries, or some organise a paid distance origami course and still others, seasoned gamers, stream their gameplay for the benefit of an NGO.
We all have something to share. Do you have a knack for sewing? Do you know the keys to creating a successful Curriculum Vitae? Do your culinary skills make those around you drool? The important thing about commitment is the intention. The rest remains to be created.
Does "Giving Tuesday" ring a bell? It's the day after Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday, a simple viral hashtag, has become a true global movement, an additional opportunity to demonstrate the importance of sharing. Raising awareness among those around you has been a form of commitment since the beginning of time and across the world. Among all its positive effects, awareness helps strengthen social norms that prioritise generosity, empathy, compassion, but also amplifies your impact by motivating and inspiring those around you. So, comment, like, share, discuss... Raoul Follereau said "A smile costs nothing, and creates a lot."
